The Highland Members' Centre has several speaker meetings during the year, day outings in summer to localities of interest, a theatre visit, a St. Andrew's Day luncheon and a four-day coach trip organised to provide a more extensive itinerary. Meetings are held at different venues around Inverness and Nairn. The programme for March 2010 to March 2011 is given below.
Programme March 2010 to March 2011
- Monday 8th March 2010 at 3.00 pm
- Talk by Gillian McKnight on "Biodiversity, Forestry and Climate Change" at Golf View Hotel, Nairn.
- Thursday 8th April 2010 at 7.30 pm
- Annual General Meeting at Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre.
- Saturday 22nd to Tuesday 25th May 2010
- A four day coach excursion to Ayrshire and environs arranged by Whytes Holidays of Aberdeen. As well as visits to Culzean Castle and Dumfries House, this will include other Trust properties such as Holmwood House, Cathcart, Hill House, Helensburgh, and the David Livingstone Centre, Blantyre as well as Paisley Abbey. Cost £220 per person - but note that this will be £238 per person if there are fewer than 30 participants.
A deposit of £25 per person to be forwarded to Whytes by 31st March 2010 - Saturday 19th June 2010
- Trip to Huntly Castle and Fyvie Castle (with lunch at the latter).
- Wednesday 21st July 2010
- Outing to Pitlochry Festival Theatre to see the play "An Ideal Husband" by Oscar Wilde (to include High Tea afterwards).
- Wednesday 11th August 2010
- Evening visit and tour of the new Highland Archive and Registration Centre, Bught Road, Inverness.
- September 2010 (date to be announced)
- Visit to Foulis Castle followed by lunch at Strathpeffer and conducted walk around the town's historic sites.
- Monday 4th October 2010 at 3.00 pm
- Talk by James Fenton on "The Antarctic" in Inshes Church, Inverness.
- Saturday 27th November 2010 12.30 for 1.00 pm
- St. Andrew's Day Luncheon at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness.
- Monday 7th February 2011 at 3.00 pm
- Talk by Roy Dowsett on "Developments at Inverewe" in Inshes Church, Inverness.
- Monday 7th March 2011 at 3.00 pm
- Talk by Gordon Casely on "Simple heraldry; cheerfully illustrated" in the Golf View Hotel, Nairn.
Note: Because of the poor attendance at the October 2009 evening meeting at Culloden Visitor Centre, the October 2010 meeting will be an afternoon one at Inshes Church, Inverness.
